Servotech Clinches 1,415 KW Solar Project From South Central Railway

Servotech's Vijaywada division order

Servotech Renewable Power System announced that it has secured a major solar rooftop project from the South Central Railway (SCR). The project, centred in the Vijayawada Division (BZA), involves the implementation of 1,415 kW of solar capacity, marking another milestone in the company’s deepening relationship with India’s public infrastructure sector.

Servotech’s South Eastern Railway contract was won through a competitive bidding process and entails managing the full lifecycle of the project.

The Scope of Work Includes:

  • Design & Engineering: Tailoring grid-connected systems for diverse railway sites.
  • Supply & Installation: Deployment of high-efficiency solar modules and inverters.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Ensuring seamless integration with the existing grid.

Servotech’s Vijaywada division project is a strategic fit for the Indian Railways’ overarching mission to transition toward net-zero carbon emissions. By leveraging rooftop spaces across the Vijayawada Division, the national carrier continues its aggressive shift toward sustainable energy self-reliance.

Servotech is positioning itself as more than just a solar player. The company is aggressively pursuing a “dual-play” strategy that bridges Renewable Energy and EV Charging Solutions.

“Such projects reflect the growing momentum towards clean energy integration across critical public infrastructure in India,” noted Sarika Bhatia, Director at Servotech. “We remain committed to delivering high-performance solutions that support institutions in achieving their sustainability objectives.”

The 1.4 MW project, while modest in the context of utility-scale solar, is high-margin in the rooftop segment due to the engineering complexities involved in railway infrastructure. More importantly, it reinforces Servotech’s “preferred partner” status with Indian Railways—a massive client with thousands of kilometres of real estate ripe for solarisation.

Furthermore, the synergy between their Solar Inverter (Hybrid & GTI) portfolio and their EV Charging division creates a unique ecosystem.

Bottomline: Servotech’s legacy in the electronics space (spanning over two decades) gives it a technical edge in managing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and lithium-ion packs, which are the next logical steps for grid-connected railway projects. As the company continues to execute its institutional pipeline, the focus will now shift to the timely commissioning of the Vijayawada project.
